What is a Working Holiday Visa (WHV)?

A Working Holiday Visa allows you to stay in a host country for up to a year while taking on jobs to cover living expenses and travel costs. Unlike a tourist visa, a WHV permits you to work during your stay, provided that your employment with any given employer does not exceed three months, and participate in courses and study programs for up to six months. This visa also allows you to stay longer in New Zealand compared to the nine-month maximum stay limit on tourist and holiday visas.

Who is Eligible for a Working Holiday Visa in New Zealand?

Only 100 Working Holiday Visas will be granted by the New Zealand government for Filipinos. To be eligible for a WHV, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old, must show the capability to purchase a return ticket or already have one, and must primarily be vacationing in New Zealand with training and employment only as secondary intentions. Additionally, applicants must provide proof of at least tertiary-level education and demonstrate proficiency in English, proven via a passing score on any English language test. Usual requirements on finances and medical insurance also apply.

Note that you can only apply for a Working Holiday Visa to New Zealand once. If records show that you have already been granted one in the past, even if you didn't use it, you will no longer be eligible for another.
