Rodrigo Duterte - President Of The Philippines is Resigning?

Manila, Philippines
August 21, 2017

In a hastily organized press conference at Malacañan Palace today, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announced his resignation from the Presidency which left the entire nation shocked.
In a prepared statement which he read, the President said:
"I am a man of my word. I have failed to end the drug menace in the country in six months. I asked the public for an extension but it appears that the public is not inclined to grant my request given their reaction to the intensified anti-drug operations of the PNP.
In light of this development, I hereby resign from office effective noon today, August 21, 2017.
I have informed the Vice-President of my resignation and she will be taking her oath of office immediately after I submit my letter of resignation.
I will be retiring from politics and will enjoy what time I have left with my family, with my children and grandchildren.
Maraming salamat po. Daghang salamat kang inyo tanan. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas at ang sambayanang Pilipino."
Sources close to the President revealed that he lost his temper over the weekend due to public reaction over the killing of Kian De Los Santos in an drug operation conducted by elements of the Northern Police District last week.
In a meeting with his closest advisers the President reportedly said "mag-resign na ako. Bahala na si Leni diyan sa lahat ng problema. Bayaan na lang dumami addict. Yan naman gusto nila." The President reportedly left the room after this statement.
This morning, the President arrived in Malacañan from Davao and closeted himself inside his office. He drafted his own statement along with his letter of resignation and called Secretary Ernesto Abella to tell him to organize a press conference.
After the press conference, the President left immediately. Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella couldn't answer the questions of newsmen present because he hadn't been privy to the events which transpired in Davao and Manila.
