A famous Bakery in South Broadway, Colorado, is said to be under investigation for refusing to write an anti-gay message on a cake for a certain customer, Mr. Bill Jack. The said customer filed a religious discrimination complaint in Civil Rights Division of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
According to 9News, Mr. Jack went to the bakery last March 2014, and ordered a couple of Bible shaped cakes.
Marjorie Silva, the owner of the Bakery said that Mr. Bill Jack wanted her to write on the cakes this message, "God Hates Gays" and also wanted to draw an 'X' crossing a picture of two men holding their hands. Silva refused the request, instead she offers to gave him a cake of any flavor and shape and the icing so he could just write on the message on the cake himself. Silva said that Jack left the bakeshop and filed the complaint in July 2015.
Mav's Corner went for a research in the internet about Mr. Bill Jack. He lives in Castle Rock, Colorado. Bill is an educator, a faculty advisor for Worldview Academy, an academic leadership program which seeks to train Christian students to think and live in accord with Biblical worldview so that they will serve Christ and lead the culture.
Silva, just went to public about the issue, just this week. In the Facebook page of Azucar Bakery, they post a photo with Marjorie holding a cake with a message "Stop the hate! Don't Discriminate". Facebook commenters praise her and thanked her for standing up for what is right, and told her that she did the right thing. The photo got over 1K likes and over 300 comments.
The Department of Regulatory Agencies/DoRA requested for an extension and will rule whether Jack was discriminated. The decisions has not yet came out, and is expected for at-least a couple of months from now.
